Help! There's a new update and I can't join the server!

If you're locked out of the server after a Minecraft update, that that probably means that the server isn't updated yet to the latest version! But don't stress - with the new launcher, is easier than ever to choose the version most appropriate for you.
Here's how:

1. If you don't know the version being run by the server, enter the game, multiplayer and then take note of the version being shown on the right next to the red X (in this example, it's 1.6.2)



2. Now close the game and run the launcher once again. Then press the "Edit Profile" button on the lower left of the window.



3. Afterwards, roughly at mid-height, you'll see a dropbox with the label "Use Version", where you most probably will have selected "Use the latest version". Click on that dropbox and then choose the version that you saw earlier on the 1st step.



4. Select "Save Profile" and then press "Play" again on the main window. If you followed these steps right, you should now be able to join the server once again.



Once the server is updated you'll need to repeat these steps again in order to follow the server version.

Also note that Minecraft 1.6.4 is not a update. If this happens to you, just go to the launcher, go to Edit Profile and change your current version from '1.6.4' to 1.6.2

1.6.4 is a minor update, but an update nonetheless. Everytime you change version to something bigger, doesn't matter if it is from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 or from 1.0.0 to 2.0.0, it's an update.

Every transition, whether from 1.6.2 (the horse update) to 1.6.4 or 1.0.0 to 2.0.0, is an update. Sure, 1.6.4 does only fix world generation bugs for 1.7.2, but it is nonetheless an update.

 

I'm very sorry but mrwho your signature is very scary to me ok but it's just me I just think iron golems are scary.
