Kicked whilst connecting to lobby?

Hi. We are new to the Sandlot and are having trouble joining the server. We get the message
"Connection Lost. Kicked while connecting to lobby. The Sandlot is whitelisted...."

We signed up this week and got approval. My friend tried to walk me through this over the phone, but it's still not working. I'm using the correct profile name and release 1.8.9.

Can anyone help us? Thanks!

Here is a method I got of the FAQ page. If this does not work after you have tried it, please let us know! Maybe try sending in another whitelist application. This happened to me. I just used the IP address. That was my only option at that point.

The Server Address is server.sandlotminecraft.com. To connect to The Sandlot, first you must be whitelisted. If you have not yet filled out theWhitelist Application, follow this link to do so. (Which you have, I assume?)

To add The Sandlot to your Minecraft list of Multiplayer Servers, start up the game, then click Multiplayer, then click Add Server.
Thhere could be many reasons for this. Perhaps our server is down, or perhaps Mojang's servers are down. You can check the status of Mojang's servers at http://help.mojang.com.

If you have verified that Mojang's servers are working and you still can't connect, you may try to connect directly to The Sandlot using the IP address:
142.4.217.143

Connecting with the IP address is not recommended and may have undesirable results, and the IP address could change in the future. Only attempt it as a last resort.
