can not get on server

Hi im new to the server and every time i put the servers address into minecraft it says can not connect to server is the server down?

If you are already whitelisted, try again. If you get the same problem, come back for further help.

Assuming it's still not working, try this.

In a web browser, go to http://server.sandlotminecraft.com

1. If you see an instruction to watch a video about how to connect to the server, watch the video. Ensure you are doing everything right. Go to 3 below.
2. If it doesn't recognise the URL, so you don't see the link to the video, there may be a DNS problem. Instead of server.sandlotminecraft.com, in the "Server Address" field type 142.4.217.143
3. If it still doesn't work, post again here *exactly* what happens when you try to connect - the exact message you see.
