Hi, all... Yesterday, I attempted to download and install Optifine on Kevin's (KPP03's) Windows 10 computer. For some reason, the installer was non-functional and I could not get it to work after numerous tries. I decided to give up for the time being and come back to it after doing some research. I deleted the installer and all was back to normal - or so I thought. This is perhaps unrelated, but now Kevin can't play Minecraft at all. Coincidence, or not? When he logs in, he gets about one FPS (one frame per second). It's like watching a slide show. This is the same whether he's on Sandlot, another server, a LAN world, or a single player world. I've run a full virus scan on his machine, which came back clean. He can also play other online games with no problems, so this is strictly limited to Minecraft. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting which may have gotten messed up at some point, which I might have missed? Thanks! -Pat
It could be a DDOS attack as there was one on texas and the east coast a few days ago. I will search it up and see what pops up. Edit: It is an aftershock of the attack. You should be able to connect soon.
I doubt it's another DDoS attack (thank goodness). It's been happening since yesterday evening and all other internet functions and games are operating perfectly. -Pat
Are you sure you downloaded Optifine correctly? If it is not DDOS it was proably the Optifine making it slower. Did you click on something in ad.fly or something?
I didn't click on anything in ad.fly and I only downloaded the installer itself, directly from the Optifine website's download page. When it failed to open at all, I deleted it. I have Optifine on my (Windows 7) computer, downloaded from the same page, and it works perfectly. -Pat
Then it is most likely a issue on your side unless @c0wg0d can see in the logs that you are trying to connect or some kind of error.
Edit the profile in the launcher and make sure you're using a regular version of Minecraft instead of an Optifine version. If that gets you back to a working state, then we can troubleshoot the Optifine install.
Thanks, c0w. He doesn't have any Optifine versions on his computer. The installer never ran, so it never installed anything having to do with the Optifine profile. I'm going to try resetting Kev's computer to a restore point, to see if that clears things up. -Pat
UPDATE: I compared Kevin's and Brendan's settings, in the snooper. For some reason, even though Kevin is running Windows 10 on his computer, Minecraft is reading his OS as Windows 7. Kevin's computer came with Windows 8 installed, so it never even HAD Windows 7 on it. Brendan's game "version" shows as 10.0 but Kevin's is showing as 6.1. Kevin is getting 1-2 FPS when he logs into MC, whether it's a single player, LAN, or online multiplayer (Sandlot) world. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Well, I was able to fiddle around with the Java settings and found some issues I was able to deal with. Kevin is now able to play on all worlds (with only server lag) like everyone else. Many Thanks! -Pat
Does the computer have a dedicated graphics card as well as integrated graphics? If so, make sure the cord is plugged into the dedicated graphics card. No offense if you're more technically savvy, but that's a good place to start. Also, Windows 10 has been known to install incorrect video drivers through Windows Update, so you might check to make sure that the proper driver is installed for video.
I had this problem when I got Optifine. Sometimes you have to make sure you installed 1.10.2, if you have this problem in the future.
