Okay, so this is just a clarification question, not a "Minecraft Crashing" or "Can't Connect" kind of thing: So recently I've been seeing 2 blue underlines around certain things in the forums. When I hover over them, it shows a random thing, with a symbol. Earlier today, I randomly got taken to a website. It had a survey and when I completed it, it said "Processing and preparing your gift" or something around that principle. After it loaded, I saw 4 options for "gifts" that weren't in my age group, kind of only for adults. (It had stuff like Skin Toners and Medicine.) This is not only one problem I've seen. Random ads have been popping up in the bottom right of my screen, and at other times take me to super random websites that I don't even know about. The weird thing is that they are all sponsored by "DestinyBuzz". Does anyone know what this means or has anyone experienced this before? How do I stop this? Is there a way? I feel like I'm being hacked. Thanks,
I think it is a spell check thing if you spell your sentence properly but the words are not a proper sentence.
You might still have the virus. If you are accessing the forums through Internet Explorer, you might try another browser such as Chrome or Edge. If the same problem is not there, it could be an infected browser.
Thanks for the advice; on Internet Explorer it doesn't show the blue lines, I think this is an infected browser. I'll try restarting it
A tip for ads - do not click on them. Some ads infect your computer with a virus, so it is best to avoid them. Also, never give out personal information to an ad/unknown website. If you receive an ad that requests your address because you 'won a free gift', never give out that information; you could be scammed. --- Always ask your parents/guardians before clicking on an ad/giving out any information.
Internet explorer was infected, in my case. Over time with no use and a couple updates, many virus scans, I can use it (but I don't because the other options are better now for me). Consult a tech savvy adult to clean up and/or adjust to a new browser for a while.
Hey Lynny! I think I may know what's going on, as @KristKaT stated, you probably have a virus that you should find out how to stop. My suggestion is trying a different browser, if the ads are still happening, contact a moderator, since the forums are part of Sandlot, they may know what's going on and why. good luck!
I agree, not a virus on the computer, maybe the browser/site got hacked, not you, or the browser/site has a virus
This has happened to me before. Just don't click on the ads, most likely the 'ads' are viruses meant to steal your information or it could be spyware. Be sure to be careful about this and ask a parent and/or guardian!
Yea, its probably a extension, or adware, or a browser hijacker, I cant link you to anything to help, but i would ask a techy adult to scan your pc, and make sure its gone, any kind of malware is bad news, and can do bad things to your pc, and even to others on your same network.
I would recommend using MalwareBytes, it is an anti-spyware program. Sorry if I am not allowed to mention this, but I use this on my computer.
I will second MalwareBytes. I use the free version, and decline the free trials. Also, to be honest, your computer also needs cleaning up sometimes...there are several programs, but CCleaner is free and good...HOWEVER...depending on how you set it up, it will erase all your cookies and trusts! Please do NOT use these programs without a responsible adult guiding the process. Also, even downloading these programs can be difficult, because the download pages try to trick you into downloading other programs.
I triple MalwareBytes. I have the full version, after getting 1 421 viruses oO (Sorry if I am not alowed to say that). When I installed MalwareBytes, it was very confusing and I recommend asking others who do know how to install it (not me... I forget :/). I run a scan every day, and then reboot my computer once a week, on Sunday. You don't necessarily have to reboot your computer, just restarting should work too. Make sure that if you put it on sleep mode, not to have anything open... This may not apply with your computer, but with mine, if I leave anything open when I put it on sleep mode, it starts getting quite slow after. These are just some tips on how I care for my computer, and I highly suggest any anti-spyware program. -c0der101
