The time has come to bid adieu

Being a part of this game, this server, and this community has brought me a tremendous amount of joy and I will forever be thankful to everybody involved.

But the time has come for me to officially retire my title of "Owner". As of today, I am formally relinquishing control of the server and all of its assets to @c0wg0d .

When I began The Sandlot, I was married and unemployed/working as a teacher substitute. A little while into it my daughter was born and I became a stay-at-home dad. I had tons of time for working on all of the fun details involved in running a server the size that The Sandlot grew to be.

Then my family moved for work. At first it was crazy, then things settled down. I was still able to be somewhat present, but nowhere near to the degree that I had been before. Then life just sort of... happened. I now realize that in my current situation, I am not going to have the time to reasonably commit to something like The Sandlot at least until my daughter is in high school (She'll be 5 in one week.)

I love what The Sandlot is, but I did not create it. I really just allowed it to happen. I barely advertised. I just spent time on my server and had fun and made it something that I was proud to share. Everything else just kind of happened and I can't really explain it other than that there was a need so dire that wasn't being adequately met elsewhere. As people came, I adapted. Things grew, I adapted. It was a lot of fun and it was incredibly memorable. I'm sure the experience from that could get me a job in IT if I ever needed one. But again my talents just allowed it to happen, and I love that I got to be a part of it. All of the members of the community - those who policed it, encouraged positive behaviors, shunned negativity, and just made this server one incredibly amazing place to be - all of you are the ones that have made The Sandlot what it is - not me.

I am however incredibly sad to give up everything - this is one of the hardest things I've ever done, just writing this has taken two days - but I know it is truly what is best for the server and this community. My absence has really held things back, and it took me an unfortunately long period of time to realize that. I have been putting off letting go for far too long. With someone else at the helm, with a great vision for the server and its future, it can continue to mature into whatever it wants to become.

c0wg0d will do a much better job than me at running the show. He is present. He is invested. He has different yet more diverse talents than my own. He will operate out of the best interest of the players at all times. He now has the freedom to do as he wishes, without any thought of "what cheracc would do". I'm excited to see where it goes!

I love you all, even those who have come and gone and will unfortunately never read this, but to all of you, I really wish you the best, and I thank you all for being a part of making this server what it is. I promise that I will continue to be around (so this isn't really goodbye goodbye), but that I will do so with no special powers (beyond perhaps VIP benefits!). Please confide in c0wg0d whatever trust you had in me - he's a great guy!

Sad to see you go cheracc you were a great owner and an amazing person to create this awesome server. I think c0w will make a great predecessor though. You willed be remembered as an amazing person. :')

 

Bye cheracc!!! :c You were really an inspirational player for me. Without the Sandlot running up like it is currently is, I wouldn't be playing minecraft.

 

Thank you for helping with this amazing server and being the owner for 5 years, cheracc. I've only been playing the Sandlot for a few months, but it has been amazing since the day I joined. Its sad to see you go, but we will all remember you forever.

 

Sandlot is simply an amazing server that can't be compared with any other, and I know it's becoming more and more amazing all the time. Thank you for all your time you've put into this server, @cheracc.

I would just like to say a massive thankyou, firstly for creating a great place for people to play this amazing game and also for letting me be a part of that process. Starting at the beginning (almost) and seeing the server grow and grow, I know you invested alot of your personal time helping to make that happen. I remember the days when we got excited if we had 20 players on at one time ^^

Its been an amazing journey.

Wow I remember when you cam on and spawned a ton of giant slime in the (really old) lobby. Lol and I got trapped in a glass cage. Hope to see you around still.

When you think about it, it was happening before, we all saw it. Thank you for allowing the server that sandlot now is to form.
