I am curious what mods are and aren't allowed. Specifically Litematica. It's basically a mod that gives you a "blueprint" to help you build something from another world, like a creative world or something. It gives no advantages to anyone with it except for one setting, which is easily spottable. Basically that setting makes it easier to build it, by being able to click on the blueprint with whatever block you want without having to put it on a real block if that makes sense. Hello! The only mod permitted on the Sandlot is Optifine. While it may be true that other mods don’t necessarily give players an advantage, that would require Sandlot staff to assess each mod individually to ensure that’s true. Examining each mod on a case by case basis would be very time consuming for the moderator team so that’s why only Optifine is allowed.
I appreciate how you would enjoy using this mod. However Litematica is best kept for singleplayer or servers that permit its use. 1.] The fact that you said "...no advantages ...except for one setting," tells you that the mod has the capacity to give an advantage. 2.] Having the ability to place a block in midair is clearly an advantage. The Litematica documentation also warns about using this mod on multiplayer servers: "The Easy Place mode feature may get you banned on some servers! The Easy Place feature will always be clicking on the target position's air block..." 3.] The time savings for a player using a program like Litematica also offers an tremendous advantage over a player who reconstructs a build from tutorials or from a creative build. There is no denying how advantageous it would be to "see" the outline of a build on the screen.
I understand that it would be useful to have more mods on this server in order to better gameplay and prevent lag. Though, if we did agree to more mods to be allowed (even if specified), that may cause other players to push this boundary without acknowledgement to staff. All in all, it is best to keep the mods to Optifine only. If c0wg0d allowed more mods on the Sandlot, he would announce it.
Ok, thanks everyone! I was mostly wondering because I saw c0wg0d say something along the lines of "Optifine is the only mod supported on the server. Not that I said supported and not allowed." In a post somewhere.
