After you create an account, you should receive an email, that has a link to activate your account (forums account). But after you have done that you have to wait for the approval email, before you can get on the server.
Check your spam folder. Sometimes email from a new address gets put in spam automatically. If you still don't see it, at the very top of the page there should be a big box that says "Confirmation email sent to your@email.com. Resend confirmation email (link)". Click that link to have the email sent to you again.
