lagging in latest update

Each time I log on to the latest update everything including off the server is lagging what do I do?

 

Do you have any mods? Once this happened to me and I found out it was my mods.

This might not be the problem but you never know.

Have you tried optifine?

 

Do you have any programs running in the background?

 

It turns out there was a malware program running in the background. Fixed now.
