Hello all, I looked through the tutorials and faqs but did not find anything about it. I connected to the server a few days ago, for my 5 year old son. He had a full inventory, including a red lightsaber, which he loved, and roamed around in creative mode with it. His inventory is now empty, and I don't know how to "refill" it. There are construction things in creative mode, but not his lightsaber. I would like to know if anyone knows how to get it back. Sorry if this is a silly question, I know less than my 5 year old about minecraft, my only advantage is that I can read and write...
If you connect from the lobby, the server automatically downloads and installs the Star Wars texture pack (with your permission.) Most likely, when you disconnected it disabled the texture pack, and then when reconnecting dropped you straight into Creative without enabling the texture pack again. To turn on the texture pack all the time, just press Escape, go to Resource Packs, and then click on the Star Wars texture pack, then hit Done. The light saber is the sword, so to get it back, just search for sword in the creative inventory.
I am assuming you son had a mod on. A mod is like theme that you can download to play on minecraft. Ex: zoo would have new items and animals in minecraft Mods are not allowed on the server because the server is for only plain minecraft. So your son will not be able to get his lightsaber, only in single-player would he. For creative, some items are confiscated because they would create server lag like redstone and pistons. VIP's can get this stuff. TNT is banned to everyone, though. I hope this helps and welcome to Sandlot! EDIT: I just c0w's response, I might be incorrect.
When you say his inventory was empty: go to ESC > Controls, scroll down and find the control button for Inventory. Once you set it, you can exit out and press that button. The Creative inventory should open up. You can click and drag items from it into the inventory bar at the bottom. The reason it showed as lightsaber is because of what c0wg0d said; there was a texture pack on.
I think he uses E for inventory. I suppose that's correct, no? but I'll try ESC and check if it doesn't work. I think the problem is that the texture pack downloaded at the lobby is gone... I'm trying to go back to the lobby and get it again. Thank you all so much for your help, you're really awesome to a lost newbie.
I forgot that you can't select the resource pack when it's one that is downloaded directly from the server. You can download it separately from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4051 Downloading and installing it this way means you can use the resource pack anywhere on the Sandlot, and in any single player worlds.
