The Lobby is has been invaded by hordes of spiders sent from the darkness against Hogwarts! Will you help to defend the Academy against these evil minions? To end the summer, we will be beginning a brand new event that will run for an undetermined length of time. You, as a student at Hogwarts Academy, will be forced out of the comfort of your training and called upon to fight off the 8-legged denizens of evil! You must go forth with your trusty Magic Wand and slay these vile creatures. Slay many of them... hundreds... thousands! They do not quit, neither must you! As you conquer these monstrosities, you will slowly become more capable with your wand. As your wand grows in power, so will its abilities against the minions of darkness. You will also be able to gather the spoils of your conquest from the fallen hordes. Collect coins and spend them at the various vendors and shopkeepers around Hogwarts and Diagon Alley! You can purchase up to four new wands from the famous Garrick Ollivander, all of which will grow in power as they are used to fight evil. Each wand has a special ability that you can activate by right-clicking your mouse. Each wand also has a "power attack," which will randomly activate as you attack spiders. This event is 100% unique to The Sandlot - you will not find anything like it anywhere else! Everybody begins with a Magic Wand, and four additional wands can be purchased. Each higher-powered wand will force more coins out of the evil arachnids. The more expensive the wand, the more money you can get for slaying spiders. The Wands These wands are listed in order of power/price from least to greatest Magic Wand (beginner's wand) Special Ability: Turn Invisible for 15 seconds Power Attack: Conjures a Harming Potion (splash) Spider Wand (starts with higher-powered spider slaying ability) Special Ability: Strengthens your blows against the enemy Power Attack: Summons bolts of lightning from the heavens Spacetime Wand Special Ability: Teleports ahead in the direction you are looking Power Attack: Teleports an area of spiders high into the air Blaze Wand Special Ability: Launches a fireball at your foes Power Attack: Sets fire to several spiders in your vicinity Flower Wand Special Ability: Plants a bunch of pretty flowers in your area - Delightful! Power Attack: Befriend a spider by giving it a flower. How sweet! Each wand begins at level 1. As you use it to kill spiders, it will gain experience and level up. At each level (to a max of 10 per wand), your wand will grow in power - it may cause more damage to spiders, it may decrease your Special Ability cooldown or make it more powerful, or it may strengthen your Power Attack or make it occur more often. The Wizarding Economy Spiders will release coins upon death, which can be used to buy cool stuff, including additional wands. There are three different Wizarding Coins, each holding different values: Bronze Knuts are the basic, lowest-valued wizarding coin. Silver Sickles are the middle-tier of wizarding coin, each worth 29 Bronze Knuts. Golden Galleons are the most valuable wizarding coin, each worth 17 Silver Sickles or 493 Bronze Knuts. You can exchange coins at Gringott's Bank on Diagon Alley. Each shopkeeper will sell items for some combination of Galleons, Sickles, and/or Knuts. Other Details Everybody is invincible in Hogwarts Academy. Areas may open later in which you can be hurt by the spiders, but you will never lose your wands or your coins or other inventory items, even if you die. When you slay a spider, it will drop coins on the ground. For 30 seconds, only you can pick up dropped coins. After 30 seconds passes, anybody may collect them. You may find your inventory becoming overloaded with Bronze Knuts. You will be able to swiftly travel to Diagon Alley by using /warp diagon
