I need some clarity on this before I go and tell people the wrong things. I know there is a rule preventing people from naming and discussing Youtubers, but what if people are just discussing one song or catchphrase by that Youtuber? Like this: So&so the Youtuber sings a song called 12345 and he always says "Bacon is life" before his videos end. Would saying the chorus of 12345 or saying "Bacon is life" be against the rules too? Or does that only apply to naming the Youtuber? Thanks in advance.
I think it's like this (Mod please correct me if i'm wrong, or anyone): No bad stuff in there. (in the sentance)
But replacing "bacon is life" with the awfully swearful youtuber replacing it with "butter or "budder". I think (in my opinion) that it's best that you don't.
Everything is "I think" "Im pretty sure" I need a yes or no :/ I would feel pretty terrible to tell someone the wrong thing. I want to help people follow the rules correctly, not take a wild guess and hope for the best.
I'm certain that you could, but if those people have annoyingly spamful quotes like "OMG BUUTTERR!!" your probably shouldn't say stuff like that.
Here's my official answer: It depends. There are certain youtubers that are obviously not kid-friendly. Most of you know who I am talking about. I would prefer that we not spread their sayings and songs and words, etc. This is mainly so that people don't ask "what does whateverwordyouareusing mean?" and then they get directed to that very youtuber's channel, and exposed to all that nastiness. It's for this reason that I had "budder" banned for so long, it just became unwieldy because everybody used the word whether or not they knew about "he who should not be named." There's plenty of very kid-safe youtubers that kids actually watch and enjoy. I don't know of many other than paulsoaresjr. I don't care if you refer people to known kid-friendly youtubers like him. It may be helpful to compile a list of known kid-friendly youtubers (that is - no swearing, excessive violence, crudeness, or other inappropriateness) so that we can refer parents (and kids!) to them instead of the less-savory types that tend to draw them.
Thank you Cheracc. That makes sense. I dont watch a billion Youtubers like some people do, so Im really not sure which is which, but Ill try my best do do some research.
Should we maybe have a forum to make submissions to this list? What about SethBling? He seems friendly enough to me. And me, Santa Plays MC Once I post ma first vid soon enough
I'd really like to see such a list put together. Who could start a list then maybe the rest of us could remove any we feel objectionable about? - Razz
I volunteer. Making it right now. EDIT: Thread made: http://www.sandlotminecraft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4663
