Yes, you heard me right! I have updated Semi-Vanilla Survival to actually, truly, really, really, Minecraft 1.8. I looked around, and it appears that nearly everything is just fine. One exception is that some shop chests that had banners or slime blocks in them no longer work. There might be other issues with 1.8 items too. Try to recreate the chest shop if you have an issue with that and hopefully it will just work. Other notable changes are: Lockette has been removed. The plugin for trails has been updated to the same version as in the Lobby. The plugin that handles /home, /tpa, /bal, /spawn, etc. and keeps track of money and balances has been updated. The cooldown plugin has been updated to the latest version. If there are any exploits with cooldowns no longer working for your rank, you need to tell me ASAP. Several other "behind the scenes" plugins have been updated, which may or may not cause issues with the build shops backing up/resetting properly (I highly doubt there will be any problems with it since we are already using it on all the other 1.8 servers) The plugin for pet protection has been removed. Your pets will now be protected with GriefPrevention, the plugin that allows you to claim land with the gold shovel. The helpers and I did a lot of testing with this newer type of pet protection, and they seem pretty well protected, but please let me know if you find any issues. One thing to be aware of is that it's not going to block damage you do to your own pets anymore, so be gentle with your furry friends! I believe ores and 1.8 blocks in newly generated chunks in the overworld will now generate properly. Your bonus claim blocks for earned ranks should be fixed. If you are still finding that you have negative claim blocks, let me know. The HorseKeep plugin still works! I didn't think it worked on 1.8, but so far so good! Let me know if you have any issues with your horses. I have taken a FULL backup of the Semi-Vanilla Server just before this update, so I can roll back to the 1.7 version if there are serious issues that I didn't see tonight. If we need to roll back to this version for whatever reason, all progress on the 1.8 version of the server will be lost, so the sooner I know about any issues the better. I really hope it doesn't come to that. As always, let me know ASAP if you notice anything wrong.
Thanks c0wg0d! We appreciate your time and effort more than we could ever express in words. (*big squeezy hug around your furry c0w neck, with a big, cheesy grin*) They won't work until every part of The Sandlot is on 1.8. I am confident that c0wg0d will let you know when name changes will work.
Wow thanks, oh mighty avatar of bovinity! Wait... I don't know what the pseudo 1.8 -> real 1.8 change means in terms of gameplay exactly?
Thank you c0w! Us Sandlotians appreciate your work towards the server. Sandlot wouldn't be the same without you!
Well, in theory nothing. But the 1.8 stuff we had before was done with a plugin that may or may not have behaved how "vanilla" 1.8 does. It also means that ore generation should be fixed for new chunks now too, which in turn means that the resource world can have 1.8 stuff in it now! It also means that armor stands should be protected now if they are inside a claim.
And Elder Guardians are in newly formed ocean temples - verified. And farmer villagers should work now.
