I need a hand from you brainiacs! I decided to try Faithful. I am on mac o/c 10.9.2 I downloaded it and the installer opens up something called Genieo. Not sure what that is, but it seems to act like a browser home page format - and I can't see that it's doing anything else. I planned to drop Faithful into the resource pack folder and open from within Minecraft, but I can't actually find that Faithful downloaded anywhere. It's not in the downloads folder, nothing in the resource pack folder, and revealed nowhere in a search. Any help is appreciated!
This Isn't exactly pro help but Maybe I can shed light on the subject. When I download a pack sometimes I can't find it afterwards. It goes into a file called temp instead of the normal downloads file. I end up having to download it again and immediately clicking on the download instead of looking for it in downloads. Make sense? Also I don't play on a mac but often times you have to bypass a lot of ads to get to the real download. The resource pack doesn't need an installer. maybe "Genio" is a scam. Please note that I play windows so it might be different. Hope this helped!
Macs! Yay! Finally something I can help with! Well, did you download it from AdFly link? If that's the case, you didn't download it. You need to go download it again, but this time, don't click anything on the screen. Instead, once on the AdFly page, wait five seconds and click the button in the top right corner. This will take you to the download page or start downloading the pack. Once you've got it downloaded, open up Finder and locate Downloads in the sidebar. Find the pack and double-click it to unzip it. Drag out the new unzipped folder onto your desktop. With Finder open, go to the top bar at the top of the computer screen and click Go. Scroll down to Go to Folder. Click open that and type ~/library/application support/minecraft Chances are it's already entered. Click Go and your minecraft folder should open. Locate the "resource packs" folder and open it up. Drag the Faithful download from the desktop into the folder. Open up Minecraft, Options > Resource Packs, and select the new Faithful pack so it's on the screen with Default. Exit out and it should change over. Sometimes the packs are stored inside the folder you downloaded, along with other contents, so you might want to open the folder and find the actual resource pack. Put that one in the "resource packs" folder instead. Let me know if you're having more problems. -Snoop Edit: jdog, your post was very inaccurate lol.
Snoopy, I downloaded it from resource-packs.com so maybe that didn't work. I must be an idiot but I can't find anything online called Adfly??????? related to MC texture packs?
Hmm...I have no idea. Adfly is the page in between the page where you click the link to download it and the actual download page. Most downloads use it.. ?????
It looks like Genieo is an adware suite that takes over your homepage on your browser. This is NOT something you want to allow because it means they are making money by taking over the homepage of people's browsers who don't realize why this is bad or how to get rid of it. ALWAYS be careful when you are downloading stuff on the internet, especially when it comes to resource packs. They should be zip files (ending in .zip) NOT .exe or anything else. Here are steps you can take to remove Genieo. Ask your parents for help with this. http://www.fixkb.com/2011/11/remove-genieo-on-mac.html And finally, I looked at that website, and it looks like the texture packs send you to MediaFire for download. I didn't have any trouble downloading a few texture packs from there. Just make sure you are clicking the green download button near the top that says the size of the download. Don't unzip it, just open the folder where you downloaded the file and move it to your resourcepacks folder.
OH MY GOSH it seems to have worked!! Cowgod - I successfully uninstalled Genieo. Thank you for the details. I am clearly careless and sleep deprived. I'm also 44, so this really made my day! Snoopy - thanks for the detailed Mac install info. The pack is working. Thanks a million, guys!!
