I am proud to announce the resurrection of Ultra Hardcore survival on The Sandlot! So, what is it? Ultra Hardcore is similar to normal survival Minecraft, but designed to be much more challenging. If you get hurt, the only way to recover health is to eat a golden apple, a Notch apple, or drink/splash regeneration potions. Having a full hunger bar does not fill your hearts back up. The difficulty is set to HARD. Sounds hard, indeed. What happens if I die? On our last Ultra Hardcore server, if you died, you were not allowed to respawn, and were essentially locked out of the server until the whole thing was reset. This meant that after a week or two, there would be very few players left on the server. We have decided to change this to make it a little more friendly, but still punishment enough that you really want to stay alive as long as possible. We will have a Spawn Island similar to the one on Factions. There will be no way off the island except for a sign that will teleport you to the main world below. If it's your first time logging in, you will be able to use the sign right away and start playing. If you meet an untimely demise, you will respawn on the Spawn Island. From the time you die, you will have to wait 1 hour before you can use the sign to teleport to the main world. This will still allow you to remain on the server so that you can ask your friends to grab your stuff for you. You will then have the option of going back to the lobby and playing something else, or just hanging out for an hour chatting with everyone else. Haha, silly c0w! I'll just sleep in a bed to reset my spawn point so I don't go to Spawn Island if I die! Nope, beds will not reset your spawn point. You can use them to sleep through the night though (if everyone on the server does the same, or they are in the nether or the end). How do I leave Ultra Hardcore? Use /lobby. Is there going to be PvP? Absolutely not. The goal of Ultra Hardcore is to work together with everyone and survive. Make public farms. Share food. Help your fellow Sandlot community members survive and thrive! Will players still drop their heads, even if there is no PvP? Yes. When a player dies, it will tell you how they died, and the coordinates where it happened. Their head will be placed on a netherbrick fence post, and you can grab it if you get there first. It serves no purpose other than being a fun trophy item. Make a memorial to honor your fallen brethren and sistren! Are there any protections for my stuff? Yes. Chests, trapped chests, and all other items that keep an inventory are protected using LWC. All of these items are automatically locked to you when you place them. You can allow your friends to open them if you wish, or even the general public. What about claims? Yes. We are using the same plugin we use on Easy and SVS; Grief Prevention. When you place your first chest down, you will automatically create a small claim for yourself. You can resize the claim or make new ones using a gold shovel. Your claims cannot be griefed, so make sure you claim before building anything! You start with 3,500 claim blocks (enough for a 35 x 100 claim or equivalent) and gain more the longer you play. Is it 1.8? Yes! Wait, it is actually 1.8, or the weird 1.8 like on Easy and SVS where some stuff doesn't work right? This is the very first, fully 1.8 server on Sandlot. There will be bunnies, depth strider boots, jump boost potions, and custom banners. There will be new villager professions and crummy 1.8 anvil mechanics. There will also be mining fatigue if you look at an elder guardian funny. Everything you would expect to find in 1.8 will be there, and will work as you would expect. Since this is our first 1.8 server, and the plugin support for 1.8 is still in its infancy, there will be bugs. Nearly every plugin we are using on this server is in an alpha state, meaning everything could break. If this happens, it's mostly out of our control to fix until the plugin authors can update the plugin. As such, I want to make it perfectly clear here and now, that there is always a chance that some bug could be so catastrophic that the entire world needs to reset. I really don't think it will happen, but don't be upset if it does. From the heart On a personal note, I would like to thank cheracc for giving me the opportunity to be the very first Sandlot administrator. This is the first server I have built for Sandlot from start to finish, and I learned a lot on the road it took to get here. Since this is a first for me, I am almost certain that I have overlooked something as I set up this server. Please be patient with me, and tell me about any bugs you find. I will work as quickly as I can to resolve them. You are an amazing community and it brings me great joy to bring this fun, new world back to you once again. Have fun, and help one another!

Wow… I like this. I like this better than Factions. Even MORE of the challenge, but with less drama. I like the cooperative aspect too. When you die and come back, do you have full hearts again? Or do you come back with half a heart or something painful like that? Glad you can come back at all though.
I think its hard. It is fun but food is a big problem. If anyone has leftover food and doesn't need it i think its best that we have a donation of food. So if someone is dieing of starvation I think we need to help them even though if you have little food. I think it would make someone's day..... at the same time you will be a hero. So what im trying to say is if someone is dieing of food give them some of your food, don't let them die you'll be a hero, some might be living off of rotten flesh. You could save someone, what if that person was you, wouldn't you appreciate it! THANKS
Yep, this is the working together part I was talking about. I think having some public farms near spawn will be a big help, and any of you can make one! You will have full hearts again when you respawn, yes.
, I no longer like my suggestion for the name: -1 from me, to me Mostly because, the fact that you can come back after you die means it's not even "hard-core". It *is* "ultra" in that ultra-hard-core added to hard-core that feeding doesn't regenerate your hearts. So, it's Ultra without the Hard Core. And sort of Vanilla, except there are claims and chest protections. Are TNT and Creeper blast damage disabled, like in SV? So I dunno. The server is more accurately, ummm, "Ultra Vanilla"? "Hungry Semi"? "Ultra-not-quite-hardcore"? Semi-Hungry-Ultra-Vanilla? I guess it'll just have to be UHC.
I believe creepers do damage based on some chat I heard, but I haven't let one blow up yet to have to find out for myself. Imsohungry-Semi-Hardcore-Semi-Ultra-Semi-Vanilla? Hmm I think your first Semi-UHC is a good name. OR we could drop the Semi and call it UHC... I love the one hour timer. I was thinking it should be longer, but that's a quibble and this is much friendlier for the Sandlot target audience. So umm... anyone found a jungle?
I've started building a tree "house" in a jungle near the world spawn. Someone said in chat that it's the same world seed as factions, haven't gone exploring to confirm that, but the coords for this jungle are -606, +138
