I have not been able to find a concrete answer as to why exactly Lunar Client is not allowed other than "Optifine is the only allowed mod". Lunar Client is also easier to use than Optifine as it automatically has Optifine and Sodium (another performance mod) downloaded on the version you are using. One thing I find especially useful about Lunar Client is the "Chunk Borders" feature. This feature allows you to turn on chunk borders from "Lunar Options" in the Options Menu. This is extremely useful for me as, due to my keyboard layout, it is impossible for me to otherwise access chunk borders. Instead of showing chunk borders, the command just increases the volume on my computer. In other words if I am not playing on Lunar Client I am playing with a disadvantage.
I think you can use the Fn key on your keyboard to turn on chunk borders by doing Fn F3 G. I could be wrong though.
And just doing the normal F3 command doesn't work as well? That's strange. Usually one of the two works.
Nope the usual F3+G doesn't work due to using a Mac and Fn+F3+G does not work due to my keyboard layout.
Optifine is the only mod allowed for use on the Sandlot. https://www.sandlotminecraft.com/th...-questions-read-this-first.23541/#post-165770 Fabric, Forge, Lunar, and similar clients are themselves mods, and are affected by this rule. This has been discussed a few times. You can refer to these threads. Lunar Client | The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community (sandlotminecraft.com) About the banning of Fabric | The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community (sandlotminecraft.com) Are mods like JEI allowed? And is journey map allowed? | The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community (sandlotminecraft.com) Minecraft Modification Registration Form Suggestion | The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community (sandlotminecraft.com) Mod Question | The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community (sandlotminecraft.com) It has previously been mentioned that various clients include "Quality of Life" enhancements, which is a key argument for enabling them. Sandlot does not have the resources to address "Quality of Life mods" at this time. When a modification brings one positive feature, it also brings a number of potentially negative features. And those features change over time - we can't just consider the current state of the modification. In the interest of the Quality of Life of the folks who run the Sandlot, all who do this as a hobby, we do not currently have plans to change this. There are currently three approved clients -- Vanilla, Vanilla modified by Optifine, and Bedrock. Sandlot is not the server for modded clients. We really wish there were a sustainable way to support truly beneficial mods. There just isn't. We've done our best to rationalize it for a number of mods in the past. In the end, we keep coming back to that single statement ("the only approved mod you can use on the Sandlot is Optifine.") Also note that Bedrock, for which we are slowly rolling out support, will not be able to connect to PvP or Parkour servers. This is because it also brings movement based advantages. The Sandlot staff values a level playing field for players of all ages. Stats and scores generated using specialized clients and/or mods create an unfair advantage that others can't realistically aspire to unless they decide to break Rule 2. Rule 2: Be honest. Simply put: Do not cheat, use hacks or mods, or exploit broken game mechanics. Do not use hacks, cheats, mods, or texture/resource packs that give you any advantage over other players.
Sorry, no go. We've already been there. We understand (and appreciate) many of the benefits. As I mentioned,
Just as an FYI, i just noticed that if you use MultiMC 5 as a launcher, and add Forge+Optifine to a launch profile, it appears to default to using Lunar. I didn't know that Lunar was a thing, nor why the Lobby was telling me my client was lunar since I thought it was forge client + optifine. I'll do some more experimenting around, but this may be a path to an accidental client violation.
Actually, @waseric, this may be a false positive. I just did a clean install of official mojang minecraft, redownloaded forge 43.1.25 with matching optifine, launched from official launcher and the Lobby claims I am using Lunar.
I have verified this as well. Fresh 1.19.4 install, installed Forge with Optifine. Shows as Lunar when I join.
Lunar client should be allowed because it has more performance mods than straight Optifine, (Sodium and some small performance mods) I average around 120 fps on Optifine which is very playable but then on Sodium/Lunar I get on average around 200. I know that The Sandlot has rules against other mods but some servers have found ways to blacklist Lunar mods and make them unable to be used on their server, while still allowing lunar client to connect to their server, The Sandlot could look into this so I can play The Sandlot with shaders at over 30 fps. I will admit Lunar does have some advantages as being able to see the durability of your armor and some other things, but Sodium is a straight performance mod and should be allowed, but it's not my choice sadly.
