In the near future, I'm going to be formally introducing a "Sandlot Helper" rank.

The main purpose of a Sandlot Helper will be to assist other players with questions (how do I claim land in creative? How do I get out of hungergames? etc.) both in-game and on the forums, as well as watching out for bad behavior (spamming, rudeness, delaying HG games when trapped, etc.) and reporting it to the moderators.

A Helper will have the ability to warn players for bad behaviors, which will mark them for administrators to review, and will also show up on their "permanent record" where bans, kicks, and mutes are already stored. They will also be able to move quickly between servers (with a command, so they do not have to travel through the lobby) in order to help people on another server.

To indicate a player as a Helper, they will be marked with a pink star * next to their name in chat, similar to how elder and VIP are shown now. The Helper star will be added to any VIP or Elder stars currently held.

In order to qualify for the "Sandlot Helper" rank, a player must show the following traits:

• Be at least somewhat active on the forums, by posting, sharing, and answering questions.
• Be active and helpful in in-game chat
• Be friendly and respectful to others in-game
• Demonstrate a knowledge of the server rules, and have no serious offenses (bans, etc.)
• Have been a regular player for at least a month, with several logins per week.

The first Helpers will be hand-selected by myself and the moderators. Please do not "volunteer" for this position. If we think you fit the bill, we will contact you. You will not be considered if you are "begging" to become a helper or constantly "volunteering yourself". Humility is a virtue.

Removal of the "Trusted" Rank

Along with this, and the reset of the semi-vanilla server, there is no longer any real need for the "Trusted" rank, so it will be removed. Currently there is no bonus or anything to go along with being Trusted, other than the green star, so nothing will really be lost. It's main purpose was way back when we were still just one server, and having it exist only one one server (semi-vanilla) is a bit pointless.

However, some of the current players holding the "Trusted" rank will be invited to transition into the "Helper" rank if they so choose, and if they meet the criteria listed above for the Helper rank.

Application Process for Elder

We will also be adding an application process for the Elder rank. Since a major qualification of becoming an elder is to have advanced skills in building structures, the application process will include submitting screenshots or videos of things you have made. Once submitted, myself and the moderators will have a "blind vote" (so we cannot see who voted for who) that will determine whether the application is accepted or not.

As always, Elders are able to build in "restricted" areas on the semi-vanilla server. It is because this area is so close to spawn that we want it to look nice and organized, and is also why we want to be sure that every Elder has demonstrated good building skills. We also know that there are lots of good builders out there, and that we don't always recognize them, because perhaps they build far away or do not call attention to themselves.




Expect to see Helpers show up (and Trusted go away) within the next week. It may be later (perhaps after Christmas) until the Elder application process is introduced.

That sounds cool. It should help take some of the expectations off the admins and be quite nice for those new to the server.

Yeah this sounds really neat. Can't wait to see who the first helpers are; I'm sure (as Tyler said) they will take some of the stress off of the admins. Will helpers be able to see all chat, or just go through world after world periodically to check things out?

This sounds like a very interesting idea. It will definitely take stress off of the Admins shoulders. I am interested so far!

They will not be able to see all of the chat. My initial intention is to choose one or two players from each of the servers (so some who mostly play on easy, some creative, etc.) This would help to make sure all of the bases are covered at least some of the time.

I don't really see the need for them to "check things out" on the other servers, however if they wish to do so that is totally fine. People can always ask for help in global (and often do)

Oh, so the tab is now showing what world we are in? Lol I'm confused when you say, in the tab it looks like this: *cheracc etc. because you said [Lobby] and what not. I thought the [World names] only showed up when you chat. Lol I guess I'll figure it out when the helpers start!
