About The Sandlot

sandlot-sv-spawn

The Sandlot has been serving the needs of parents and family members looking for a safe place for their children, friends, and relatives to play Minecraft since December 2011.

Founded by a parent and former school teacher, The Sandlot aims to provide a family-friendly environment for younger players, free from swearing, abusive language, and mature content that is often found on many Minecraft servers (and the internet in general).

We operate with a strict chat filter, and have zero tolerance for any attempts to bypass it. Our server is white-listed, meaning that players must request access and be approved by our staff. We perform a background check on every application we receive, and we do not accept any players with a history of abusive behavior of any kind.

Our server offers a wide variety of game modes, including Semi-Vanilla Survival that is 100% legit (no spawned items, everything collected by players), Easy Survival with a jobs system and shopping mall (great for our younger players), Creative for players who want to get straight to building, Hardcore for players looking for even more of a survival challenge, PvP in the form of Skywars, Hunger Games, Build Battle, and loads of mini-games, Skyblock, Dirtblock, and hundreds of Parkour maps made by our community. We even have a giant Hogwarts Adventure that lets you explore the world of Harry Potter, with magic wands included! There's something for everyone!

Our Worlds and Servers

The Sandlot is a network of several servers, linked together using a common area (called The Lobby). New players join in the Lobby, and from there may choose which server they would like to play on. It is easy to return to the Lobby, either by clicking a sign at the server starting area (called Spawn) or on some servers, simply typing /lobby.

We have the following servers available for play:

Semi-Vanilla Survival – This server aims to be as close to “vanilla” Minecraft as possible, while still preserving the safety players expect, by allowing them to lock their doors, chests, and other belongings, as well as “claim” land, which then cannot be modified or “griefed” by other players without their permission. This server also has a functioning economy, which uses virtual currency (coins) which is tied to gold ingots as a standard (at an exchange rate of 1 gold ingot = 9 coins). Players are also able to earn the ability to set up shops, which other players can visit and purchase from or sell to.

Easy Survival – This is more of a “fun” server, with several features which make the game easier for younger players or those looking for a bit less of a challenge. The main feature is a “Jobs” plugin, where players may select up to two jobs which earn them currency. Currency can then be spent at a the “Server Mall”, which sells all kinds of blocks, weapons, tools, and armor at fixed prices. This allows players to get access to items that they find difficult or tedious to acquire, or to only participate in facets of the game which they find enjoyable. It would be possible, for instance, to be a “farmer”, earn money from farming, and use that to buy almost any material desired.

Creative – The Creative mode server requires all players to claim a section of land before building. This prevents unwanted modification of your work by other players. More information on how to claim land is available in our “Help” page.

Hunger Games – A Player-versus-Player (PvP) game, where players start in a fresh world, and have a period of invulnerability where they may “gear up” before battling to the death. After a certain time, a “feast” appears at a random point on the map, which has chests full of weapons, armor, potions, and food.

Arenas – The Arenas server has several PvP game modes where players can compete against each other and earn tokens to purchase vanity weapons and armor. Game modes include Capture the Flag, Spleef, and 1v1 PvP.

Skywars – Skywars is a fast paced PvP game where players start on individual islands floating in the sky, and must use random chest loot to their advantage until they are the last person standing! Skywars has kits and cosmetic items that add to the fun, and leaderboards to keep competition fresh and fun amongst your friends!

Build Battle – Build Battle is a creative game mode where players spawn in their own build area in creative mode, and try to build the same object as everyone else, randomly selected each round. At the end of a round, everyone votes on what build they like best, and the person with the highest number of votes wins!

Skyblock – Skyblock is a different kind of challenge. Players start an “island” floating in the sky, and must use the resources they are given to survive and thrive. There are lots of “challenges” which can be completed, and each challenge gives rewards which can assist you in improving your island. See what you can create from nothing!

Dirtblock – Dirtblock is just like Skyblock, only with dirt! It's like Skyblock turned inside-out. It is a different kind of challenge. Players start in a small chamber in a huge chunk of dirt floating in the sky, and must use the few resources they are given to survive and thrive. There are lots of “challenges” which can be completed, and each challenge gives rewards which can assist you in improving your Dirtblock island and carving out your own little paradise.

Parkour - Parkour is a game mode where agility, timing, and precision are the keys to success. You need to jump, climb, and bounce your way through dozens of community made maps for cosmetic rewards that you get to show off in the community Parkour spawn area. Get jumping!

Hardcore - The Hardcore server is, well, pretty hardcore! It's a very unforgiving survival world where health does not regenerate just by eating food, and there are no player warps, sethomes, or teleport commands. If you die, you have to wait 1 hour until you can play again, so be safe out there!
