You may select 5 cakes, and yes you can vote for your own!
Remember, even if you don't win, it's still fun to build giant cakes, because everyone likes cake!
Good luck everyone!

Hi guys!
Parkour is open again, and now running Minecraft 1.11!
I also updated the Parkour plugin to the latest version, which the developer claims has been rewritten from the ground up, with new features coming soon!
One of the changes was that the "finish" blocks (the blocks you step on to complete a course) must now be red mushroom blocks instead of stone slabs. With tremendous help from @BellStar03, @bighatscoutguy, and @JackenKracken, we fixed all courses to use these new blocks.
Two minor issues I've noticed are:

Two minor issues I've noticed are:
- Emerald blocks seem to boost you a lot more now than they did before. I have submitted a bug report for this, but for now you get to be like Super Mario. Hopefully no courses are ruined by this change, but if they are, let us know and we'll try to fix it up as best we can.

After a lot of brainstorming, some headscratching, a bit of procrastination and loathing, and then a stroke of genius, HungerGames balances have been fixed!
I thought it would be fun to give you guys an inside peek into what it's like to be an administrator, so I'm going to show you how I fixed the balances. There are many different ways this could have been done, and I'm sure some of our more technically savvy players will scoff at my methods, but in the end it worked, so there!
Our HG balances before we allowed name changes were stored in a database in a format like this:

To celebrate, I have something fun planned, and I need lots of !
I will be rewarding the 5 top voted cakes with one free week of VIP!

- Build an awesome cake in Creative no larger than 30x30x30.
- You can use any materials you want for your cake, but redstone machines will not be accepted as part of the build.
- Post your name (or the name of the primary "owner" if you are posting for someone else) as well as one screenshot of the cake using the default texture pack as a reply to this thread.
- There can only be one winner per cake. If multiple people helped build the cake, you must all agree to designate one person as the "owner" of that cake....

In about 5 hours from this post, I'd like to take Skyblock and Dirtblock offline so I can try updating them to Minecraft 1.11. The Skyblock plugin should work fine, the only concern I have is with challenge rewards possibly needing to be reconfigured.
I will be doing them one at a time, so hopefully you guys don't mind switching to a different server as they are taken offline.
If all goes well, the outage should only be about 20 minutes per server.
I will also need to keep all servers offline briefly after the nightly restart, as well as moving the restart 1 hour earlier than usual.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Now that we have Arenas on 1.11, there has been some dissatisfaction with the vanilla combat mechanics that were changed in Minecraft 1.9.
I would really like to know what you all think about the combat update, and not just for PvP, but for PvE as well since SVS has been on 1.10 for a while.
Do you like any of the changes? Do you completely dislike everything as far as cooldowns, shields, bows, food saturation/regen, and golden apples? Please share your thoughts!

Minecraft 1.11 is now the preferred version to use when connecting to and playing on The Sandlot.
The resource worlds in Semi-Vanilla Survival have been reset.
All servers can now be joined using the latest version of Minecraft, which is 1.11.
Arenas, Creative, HG1-4, and Build Battle have been updated to Minecraft 1.11.
The map for Build Battle has been reset to fix the damage that was done to the build areas.
HG1 and 2 are now back on the normal map rotation, with Virg's new Outpost V1RG3 map added to the mix.
Even though you can connect with 1.11 now, not all servers are actually 1.11. I know it's hard to keep track, so here are all the versions we are on (again, keep in mind that you can connect with 1.11 to all of these, regardless of the server version).
Arenas - 1.11
Build Battle - 1.11
Creative - 1.11
Dirtblock - 1.10.2 1.11
Easy - 1.8.8
Hardcore - 1.8.8
Hide and Seek - Currently disabled
HG1-4 - 1.11
Lobby - 1.8.8

You spawn into a huge underground chamber. It is sterile, white, and almost other-worldly. You can't see the sky, although the ceiling is very high. What is this place?
You explore the surrounding area. It is a huge labyrinth of rooms, yet somehow every part of it appears to have a purpose.
Venturing to levels deep below, you discover an excavation site the size of which you have never seen before!
What, or maybe more precisely where, is this place?
Make sure you are here this Saturday afternoon for the great unveiling of yet another Sandlot-made home-grown HG map!

Once again, all good things must come to an end.
The Hardcore survival server will be closed on December 3rd. It may be reopened on that date, but most likely it will not be ready by then and will have a grand re-opening at a later date to be determined.
Why are you closing Hardcore?
Hardcore has seen a lot of ups and downs and a couple different iterations of gameplay during its time on The Sandlot. Originally, it was almost purely vanilla hardcore, with no claims, no chest protections, and when you died, you were locked out until the server was reset.
We felt this was harsh to players who had a bad first spawn at night or made a mistake that kept them out of the server for a month or more, so we changed it to a 1 hour cooldown after death. Even this was a bit too prohibitive, and eventually it got to the...
