Skyblock and Dirtblock have been updated to Minecraft 1.10.2!

You must use a Minecraft 1.10.2 client to play on Skyblock and Dirtblock.

What has changed?

The permissions have been fixed:

• You can once again make other island members the leader of the island.
• Invites work again.
• You can now view the island info and island level for any island.
• VIPs can have 8 island members again.

The tiers of challenges have been renamed.

The blaze rod and ghast tear purchase signs at spawn have been removed. These items will now be awarded in challenges.

The netherportal challenge has been updated and now additionally rewards 4 blaze rods.
The pearlcollector challenge has been updated and now rewards chorus flowers and end stone.
The expertbuilder challenge has been renamed to craftybuilder.
The skylord/dirtlord challenge has been renamed to expertbuilder/dirtexpert.

All servers will be unavailable for an indeterminate amount of time. There is a major distribution upgrade that must be performed on the underlying OS of the server.

We have a new ban appeal process. As long as you follow our rules and are a good Sandlot citizen, you shouldn't ever have to worry about anything in this post. If you happen to find yourself banned, read on.

Ban appeals now require a forum account. We want every player who plays on The Sandlot to have a forum account.

It will seem odd that you have to apply for the whitelist when you are already a player, but just state in your application that you already have whitelist access and are simply requesting to create a forum account.

When loading the Appeal a Ban page, it will automatically fill in your username and email address from your logged in account. This will prevent typos that can sometimes delay ban pardons....

All good things must come to an end.

The Semi-Vanilla survival server will be reset on September 3rd, which just happens to be my 3 year Sandlot anniversary!

Yes. I know it's sad, but it had to happen sooner or later.

Why are you resetting?

There are a few reasons. While it is sometimes difficult to say goodbye, resetting a server can bring new life into a server and let players come together to achieve a common goal. A clean slate can help spark new interest and new ideas from everyone.

Secondly, the map has grown quite large. Not having a world border turned out to be a not-so-great idea in terms of storage and backups, and it taught us that having a resource world that resets every so often is much more invigorating for the server than having people travel out thousands of blocks to find new items.

And lastly, there's a bunch of new stuff in 1.9 and 1.10 that we can't get unless we reset!...

Dirtblock is now live!



It appears that the creation of Skyblock on the Sandlot server caused an imbalance in the Universe. There was far too much sky, and not enough dirt... and now the Universe has corrected it. Trubuhl was the first one to stumble into this. His account is here:



So it turns out that Dirtblock is just like Skyblock - only with dirt! It's like Skyblock turned inside-out. It is a different kind of challenge. Players start in a small chamber in a huge chunk of dirt floating in the sky, and must use the few resources they are given to survive and thrive. There are lots of “challenges” which can be completed, and each challenge gives rewards which can assist you in improving your dirtblock island and carving out your own little paradise.

A couple of things you should know:

You must be on the latest version of Minecraft to join Dirtblock.

All servers except the lobby will be unavailable for an indeterminate amount of time. We are going to be testing a new chat system (which some of you may remember from before). As many of you probably recall, a long time ago we were having major headaches with a "Proxy Kick" error. This error was caused by the new chat plugin. Now that some time has passed and that plugin has had multiple updates, and we are on 1.8+ across all servers, and we support name changes, I am hoping that those Proxy Kick errors will no longer happen. The only way I can test this is to take all servers offline, have everyone chat spam (the only time where you aren't breaking the rule!) in the lobby and see what happens. If...

I have updated all servers to support name changes, as well as being able to connect with 1.9 and 1.10 clients. I recommend that everyone update their profile in the Minecraft launcher to use 1.10.2 now (or just Use latest version).

If you have any issues with your name change, please post a bug report. Forum name changes are not supported yet.

The Sandlot will support name changes soon (most likely sometime this week). This is a Very Big Deal. I recommend you read this post, then read it again so you understand just how big of a deal it is.

Why should I care?

As I'm sure you know by now, Mojang (the creators of Minecraft) have allowed players to change their Minecraft name. You can change it once every 30 days, with an additional 7 day grace period where your name cannot be used by anyone else if you want to change it back.

Names used to be the unique "key" that unlocked all of your data on every Multiplayer server you've ever used, including The Sandlot. It's what kept track of your claims, your plots, your locked chests, shops, stats in PvP games, balances, enderchest contents, your sethomes, job stats, and the list goes on and on. Basically it's everything that makes you you, as far as Minecraft goes.

This Saturday, July 2nd, I will be updating HG1-4 to Minecraft 1.8 for a full day of testing and feedback. To encourage participation, all kits will be unlocked and available for use by all players all weekend long! In addition, I will be livestreaming the event, playing HG with you guys (along with as many moderators as possible), and answering any questions you want to ask me!
