UPDATE: I will be removing the Lockette plugin on Easy and Semi-Vanilla Survival this Thursday, April 21st, after the nightly restart.

UPDATE 2: I have updated the QuickShop plugin to the latest version which supports UUIDs. All your shops *should* have converted successfully, and all commands should be identical. Please post in the Bug Report forum if you have any issues.

I am (slowly) trying to prepare to update Easy and SVS to Minecraft 1.8. Before you ask, I cannot do a straight upgrade from 1.7 to 1.9 because there are too many problems that could arise, and too many other factors to consider. I want to make the transition as safe and seamless as I can for you.

There will not be any map resets for the 1.8 updates. We have not yet determined if there will be map resets for the eventual 1.9 update, but if there are, you will be given ample notice.

Chests, Trapped Chests, Furnaces, Anvils, Brewing Stands, Droppers,...

We're getting the mods back together on the Easy server for a party on Saturday April 2, at 3:00pm Pacific Time to chat and fool around. Many mods will be attending. No doubt some of them will be up to no good. We may hit a record number of mods online at once!...

Anyway all are encouraged to stop by, say hi and have some fun! Who knows what might happen. I expect you may see a few mods who have been missing for some time - this is your chance to say visit with them again, at least this once.

All servers will be unavailable for a short time, and the rest of the maintenance window will require restarts and additional downtime in Creative. I will be online at the time and informing you via in-game chat when I need to restart or take down a particular server. The maintenance will consist of security updates for the underlying OS, plugin updates, and fixing the damage in Bricksburg. There is also the possibility that claimed plots which are very far away from spawn will be deleted and unclaimed. I never intended anyone but moderators to be able to claim plots further than 5,000 blocks from spawn...

As many of you now know, Minecraft 1.9 has been released. Updating single player worlds from 1.8 to 1.9 is as easy as updating Minecraft itself, but servers are a completely different story. The Sandlot relies on dozens of plugins written by dozens of programmers and software developers all over the world, not to mention the server software itself which is written by a team of people.

The Sandlot cannot just flip a switch and be on 1.9. It will take a long time for the server software to get updated, and even longer for all the plugins we use to get updated. We are still waiting on some of our plugins to support 1.8, let alone 1.9! I expect it will be anywhere from 6 months to a year before The Sandlot can fully implement a 1.9 solution across all our servers and worlds.

All that being said, if you try to connect and play on The Sandlot and get the error "Outdated server", it means you are trying to connect...

Arenas? We already have that. What's the big deal?

Arenas is a popular server where people go to play minigames like Capture the Flag and 1v1 with their friends. There's also a shop where you can buy new weapons and armor and have a free for all PvP match.

Not only is the Arena server being updated to version 1.8, but we are adding awesome new minigames and a much larger spawn area!

All of these new features have been tested by our awesome helpers, but they are only a small group of people. There may be unforeseen issues that arise when we release this new server to everyone, so continue reading but keep in mind that we may need to adjust or disable some or all of these new features.

The elders, helpers, and moderators have all been working very hard over the past months, and I am incredibly excited to announce that a new Arenas 1.8 server is nearly ready to be launched! There will be more details coming later, but for now, here are the questions I can answer for you!

So what's the big deal with 1.8?

You won't see much of a change, but upgrading Arenas to 1.8 will allow us more flexibility in our future arena builds, and will provide better plugin support.

What will happen with my inventory and balance?

I am planning on migrating all your inventory and enderchest contents and your balances to the new server. I will also be migrating your PvP/PvE stats, like kills, rank, wins, etc.

To properly copy over your data to the new Arena server, the current Arena server will have to be shut down while I copy the data over. If it's not shut down, then any money or inventory...

Do not discuss Realms on The Sandlot. Realms are not moderated and could place players in an unsafe environment. Please help us to support internet safety by not discussing Realms on The Sandlot, not inviting others to your Realm, and not accepting a Realms invitation unless you know the owner in real life.
