The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community

Hi everyone,

I will be spending the next three evenings working on server maintenance. I will need to work on server and plugin updates for the Lobby, Parkour, Skyblock, and Hardcore.

Only one server at a time will be offline, which will hopefully minimize your disappointment that you can't play on your favorite server for a while.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and I apologize that I have to do this maintenance during peak playtime for many of you.

The Factions server on The Sandlot was a real test for the Sandlot community. I think overall, it didn't work out. I know many of you loved Factions, and many are curious why there has been no official announcement on its future.

I and the mod team are working very hard to make Sandlot the best family-friendly Minecraft server it can be, and we all feel that our time is much better spent bringing you fun elsewhere instead of trying to resurrect Factions and turn it into something that can work better for our community instead of being a constant source of drama and bad behavior.

That doesn't mean that there will never be another game like it on Sandlot, it just means that for the time being, we are too busy to plan an entirely new game and all the intricacies that such an endeavor mandates.

We all hope you have fond memories of Factions on Sandlot, and that you can understand our decision.

The Factions sign will be removed in the lobby, and the Factions entry will be removed...

Beginning at approximately 10pm Arizona time and extending until about midnight, all servers will be unavailable while updates are performed.

The entire server will be unavailable for a short time, and the rest of the maintenance window will see the lobby restarted several times. The maintenance will consist of security updates for the underlying OS and (hopefully) updating the lobby to Minecraft 1.8. And just to be clear, nothing about Hogwarts or anything else in the lobby will be changed, only the version update.

Parkour has been updated to Minecraft 1.8! You should have all your inventory items and enderchest items still. Leaderboards have been reset for all courses, so go get first place before Armorboy99 gets there!

Also, now you can build your courses using the new 1.8 blocks! I expect to see some slime block trampolines!

Hi everyone!

I have created a new Parkour 1.8 test server. There is a join sign for it on the back of Blokjekopf's statue in the lobby.

Please test it out and let me know if you find any bugs. You can report back in this thread instead of making bug reports.

Once the Parkour 1.8 server is live, we can start adding courses that use the new 1.8 blocks. And of course, that means there better be some slime block trampolines!

I'm proud to announce that Skyblock has now been fully updated to support Minecraft 1.8!

Your island should be exactly as you left it--no map reset required! There are a couple of important changes that you need to be aware of.

If you don't have enough inventory space for your challenge rewards when completing a challenge, the items will no longer be lost, but will instead fall on the ground at your feet. Be careful not to turn in challenges near your cobble generator!

Creeper damage is currently on, but will only cause damage if the creeper was targeting you or one of your island party members, and it was on your island. Based on the poll we had, most players didn't want this, but I was tired (it's 2 am) and couldn't figure out how to turn off the explosions... I'll try and fix it later, but for now just tread lightly around creepers.

Protecting chests via Lockette no longer works (the private signs on chests). Skyblock now uses LWC, the same plugin used to protect...

Mojang is performing scheduled maintenance on Monday, April 13th. All their servers will be down approximately 11pm to 3am MST.

I am unsure exactly what that means for Sandlot, but there's a pretty good chance you won't be able to play Minecraft on any servers during that time. If you connect to Sandlot before they turn the servers off, you can probably continue to play during the maintenance, but if you disconnect, you will most likely not be able to reconnect.
