I've been playing for about a week on Sandlot. Loving it! It's my first experience on a "friendly" server. Thanks to all the kind folks who have helped me get started! My concern is this...I assumed that when I build or place items within my OWN claim (using the golden shovel technique) that everything would be protected from grief and theft. I just now watched a short video by cOwgOd saying everything has to be protected using signs and the "lockette" method. What a pain!! I want to protect everything! Do I really have to use lockette, or is that old, outdated information?
I'm quite sure the server doesn't use the lockette system anymore; chests and the like should be private to you once you place them, and only people you choose can build/break blocks inside your claims
Thanks, I hope you're right, Motholotl! By the way, Mississippi was the first spelling word that I thought was fun. My own grandma taught me the little chant that goes with it.
Definitely outdated, the only thing you should need is a golden shovel! Chests are protected automatically when you place them, even outside claims!
This must've been from a video from a while ago. The system has changed since then. Chests, furnaces, and even blocks should all be protected upon using the classic gold shovel method.
All the answers above are right on! c0wg0d's griefprevention video (c0wg0d plays #2) is still accurate. Sandlot's servers have changed over time, but the plugin works the same way. Instead of the plugins mentioned in c0wg0d plays #4, we use a plugin called lwc (or its successor bolt). I don't think we have a video for it. However, it is quite easy to use. You can find the list of commands for it here: Command Reference | The Sandlot - A Family-Friendly Minecraft Community (sandlotminecraft.com) The chest (and other containers) protections work anywhere you can place the chest, and are automatically protected when you place them. You can easily unprotect them if you would like to.
I apologize for the misleading video. That is indeed old. I have been meaning to make newer videos explaining our newer systems, just lack of time is preventing me from doing so. Thanks everyone for helping answer YarnGrandma's questions!
