Quick question -- if a chest initially placed in a Wilderness chunk, and then the chunk becomes claimed by a faction that you don't belong to, would you still be able to open the chest to retrieve your stuff?

 

And when new factions become available, will this world remain or be restarted?
ie, any work done now, will it remain?

No, because it would then be protected by that faction's claim, and your protection would be removed.

I have another question, if we craft, say iron or diamond armor, would they have the specific abilities or are the only ones with the abilities are the ones buy-able at the spawn shops?

 

Crafted gear gets the same set bonuses as the ones in the shop.
