Back to Basics is our theme for the 2022 Normal Server.

Here is a sneak peek at the new spawn. This is the village of Meadowgate. This village is the heart of the new Normal realm. The three key structures in Meadowgate are the Town Hall, Guildhall, and Stable. (Special thanks to GrassPelt for his mapmaking magic!)

The Town Hall is where you can learn about the Normal server, exchange your treasure for money, and buy claim blocks.

The Guildhall is where you will go to get promoted. We also included a nice open center area for anyone who wishes to celebrate with a drop party!

The Stable is where you will go when you decide to visit other dimensions, such as the resource worlds.

Below is a sneak peek of the starting overworld. You might notice that this world is a circle. We chose this shape in order to best support future 1.19 terrain and structures. Special 1.19 features, located just outside the circle, will be nice additions to the overworld. While the circle will be tricky to navigate around the edges, it is only temporary. Stay strong!

Eventually, after we can implement 1.19, the world will expand to have nice straight borders. Then there will be even more land to claim on the outer edges! So, think carefully about how you will use your claim blocks!

Your early mission, should you choose to accept it, is to gain your first rank in the new Normal server.

Everyone will start as an Initiate (Rank 0). Each rank (excluding the first and last) will require one item, some money, and some experience points. Those will all be taken in exchange for a new rank and reward(s). Every rank will award an increasing number of bonus claim blocks. Ranks 2 to 7 will systematically reduce the cooldown for /spawn and /home, until it is gone. Ranks 3 to 13 will give permissions to use various commands that make game play easier.

Of course, if you are are a survival purist, then you don't need to use any commands for which you get permission. You don't even have to get promoted if you don't want it! But you will need to use claim blocks like everyone else, and you do need to use the Resource Worlds. Purists can spend money to buy claim blocks, rather than use the promotion system to get them. (Same price for claim blocks, either way... just other perqs with the promotion system.)

Yes that is true. All claim blocks will be purchased during promotion or separately using game currency.

 

Yes. We still want to keep the regular overworld, nether, and end nice looking, so if you want to deforest an entire biome, blow up half the nether looking for ancient debris, or dismantle an entire end city, please do so in the resource worlds!
