I am kind of exited, and sad at the same time. At least it's not easy survival (my fav server next to dirt block)...

As for public food farms: we usually make one in resource world near spawn. That's how I survived when I started in SVS and how I plan to survive when I start in new SVS: go to RW and mine and farm and when I have a good set of basic supplies, then I look for a new home in the main world. I like helping to build new public farms after RW resets, and I know others do too, so we will usually always have those for new players, and anyone who just needs more food sometimes.

Why are you resetting?

There are a few reasons. While it is sometimes difficult to say goodbye, resetting a server can bring new life into a server and let players come together to achieve a common goal. A clean slate can help spark new interest and new ideas from everyone.

Secondly, the map has grown quite large. Not having a world border turned out to be a not-so-great idea in terms of storage and backups, and it taught us that having a resource world that resets every so often is much more invigorating for the server than having people travel out thousands of blocks to find new items.

And lastly, there's a bunch of new stuff in 1.9 and 1.10 that we can't get unless we reset!

What about ranks? Money? All my precious items?

Ranks will be reset. Player balances will be reset. Inventories and enderchests will be reset. Homes and claims will be reset. Everything will be reset.

Will the server be Minecraft 1.10?

Yes. There will be polar bears and husks and all the other new things from Minecraft 1.10 that you would expect.

What is going to happen to the current Semi-Vanilla server?

You can keep playing on the current server until we launch the new one. Finish up those projects!

Will the map be available for download when the server is taken offline?

Yes, however the map is far too large for us to host in its current state. Therefore, I will be "trimming" (a.k.a. deleting) everything outside the world border on the live map.

Are there going to be any new ranks?

No. We all think that Semi-Vanilla has a pretty great ranking system and it doesn't need many changes.

The only change we are making is the cost for WayMaster commands. The original purpose of the WayMaster rank was to have something for those high ranked players to spend their money on. In retrospect, the prices were too high and the rank became nothing more than a label with no inherent value. Achieving WayMaster is no small feat, so the command prices will be changed to the following:

/enderchest - FREE

/tpa and /tpahere - $18

/back - $99

Will there still be shops?

Yes, we are still going to have a spawn that has shops which you can rent.

Building the Spawn area

If you didn't know, everything in the current Semi-Vanilla Survival server was built in survival mode, with materials obtained through normal Minecraft gameplay. Nothing was "spawned in" with creative mode. We are continuing this tradition with the new server.

The moderator team has a very ambitious Spawn area build that will really impress, however, if we wanted to build it all ourselves before the

To circumvent this issue, we are going to block off certain areas of spawn until they are complete and ready for a reveal.

Additionally, we would love donations to help complete the permanent spawn area faster. Any players that donate materials to help build our permanent spawn area will have their name added to a sign on our donation wall.

Donations must be given to a moderator and have significant value to be considered a donation. A stack of dirt is not considered significant.

Will there still be a resource world?

Yes, in fact there will be three. We are adding resource worlds for Nether and The End. I am going to setup an automated reset process for all the resource worlds when this new SVS is launched. My tentative plan is to automatically reset all three resource worlds on the first of every month. You can have an Enderdragon fight in the resource world every month!

I'm afraid it has to be 1.10 only. You won't be able to log on with 1.9 or versions below.

@LastZelda , have you tried basic settings, or does it crash on launch?

You can try deleting and reinstalling Minecraft (after saving your screenshots and saved, single player, games)...sometimes that helps.

Also, is your Java up to date?
